So, this post will be more about music than diabetes as a heads up. These are all lyrics to songs that I feel I can connect to life more than most things can.
Dilemma – Green Day
“Welcome to my problems / It’s not an invitation / This is my dilemma / And it’s my obsession”
For me this means, ‘Welcome to my struggles, you’re going to know about them’ because sometimes, you just need to tell someone. Sometimes its hard to hold it all in and sometimes you need to talk to others about what you are going through so they understand your life, your world.
Lightning Strike – Escape The Fate
“Baby, I’m a lightning strike / Living like I’m never gonna die / Taking the world by storm again / Let me light up the sky / Baby, I’m a lightning strike”
For me this song with these lyrics symbolize the days where you feel unstoppable and powerful. Taking it all by storm. When do you feel unstoppable?
Strong for Somebody Else – Citizen Soldier
“My personal hell, I’ll bury it, bury it / Weight of the world, I’ll carry it, carry it / Pile it all on, I’ve gotta be strong for somebody, for somebody / Put my pain in a pill, I’ll swallow it, swallow it / Too numb to feel, I’m hollow, I’m hollow / I have to hold on, I’ve gotta be strong / for somebody, for somebody / somebody else”
This song shows that most of the time, you’re holding yourself together until you break. Purely being strong for somebody else, to not show your weakness, or what you think is a weakness. Hence the lyrics, “Everyone has a breaking point, guess we’ll find mine” later in the song, showing that they’re planning on staying strong to the very end. But sometimes we need to let it out.
These are just a few songs I know that are used to symbolize life and they resinate with me and hopefully gives others understanding. Thank you for reading, all credit goes to the song artists.
