Dupixent: Good or Bad?

I would like to preference this all with the fact that my last endoscopy was July 5th after being on Dupixent for more than 6 weeks. The results are I am in remission from EOE, and that scope was with me eating as much dairy as I wanted! I ate a ton of string cheese!

Here’s my question: Is Dupixent good or bad?

Okay, hear me out; It’s painful, half the time I can’t move my leg comfortably the next day, and my legs break out in hives and the medicine clumps up under the skin when I do it. But on the plus side, I can have diary. That’s it. It’s a pretty big plus, but there’s also a lot of pain with it.

And honestly, I have high anxiety. So, me being me, I freak out whenever it’s time for the shot, and start panicking. I want to keep having dairy, but I REALLY do NOT want to have to do the shot. I come up with excuses, try to delay the time, and basically do everything I can to back out of the shot. But then I remember that I need to do this in order for me to have the dairy and do the scope to make sure I am healthy as can be…eating the dairy also helps with the diabetes.  So, that basically means that if I skip it one week or two weeks, even more…. I need to restart it so I am taking it for consecutive weeks. AND I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO RESTART IT! I just want to do the time frame as quickly as possible between scopes.

With that being said, there are also other ways to do the injection. There is the typical one, an EPI pen mechanism, and then there’s the syringe. The syringe you can do half in one leg, and the other half in the other depending on the dosage. People say that it is way less painful, but I really do not like syringes, nor needing to do two shots. I mean, it takes me A FREAKING HOUR AND A HALF to work up the courage FOR ONE SHOT!

Keep in mind, this is coming from a diabetic who does pump changes, Dexcom changes, and finger pricks….so it is not that is just a little uncomfortable….it really HURTS!

So, is Dupixent good or bad? You, must decide what is best for you. For me, I love the fact that I CAN eat dairy now. But maybe someday, I will go back to dairy free for a break from all of this…..or maybe not. Time will tell.
